This book details the various meanings behind certain body language, the book gives a fairly broad overview of all the different parts of the body and has various illustrations and photos to illustrate what is being explained. It goes over everything from meaning behind certain arm and leg positions, facial expressions and interview techniques.
I found the book quite interesting to read, and whilst a lot of it is rather obvious, in that we all generally know what an angry person looks like from their body language, there are a lot of little details that the book goes into, that many people will overlook.
I did however feel that the book was too long for the amount of information it gave, I felt that it could have been half the length whilst giving the same information in a more concise format, it did feel like a lot of “waffling” was going on in the explanations to pad out the book. Put it this way, if I summarized the book into 10 pages of notes on each behavior with quick sketches, then you’d get the same information as buying and reading this 380 page book.
Overall the book is still a fairly decent read, and the illustrations whilst simple, do their job as a visual aid for the explanations of different body language. The book is only good for a basic start for understanding body language though, so if you are looking for a comprehensive guide, you might want to look at a reading list for a university course.
